HD 44179
editCheck out HD 44179. I propose a merge between both articles. Evilclown93 15:41, 10 February 2007 (UTC)
- Support: I think that Red Rectangle should be the main article and HD 44179 a redirect to it. WilliamKF 16:44, 10 February 2007 (UTC)
"Not to be confused with Red Square Nebula"
editIs it just me that's confused, or did someone on Wikipedia confuse the Red Square Nebula with the Red Rectangle Nebula despite warnings against it? Photos on the two article pages look very similar to me, without any explanation given for it as far as I can see. --137.111.13.204 (talk) 18:04, 11 May 2016 (UTC)
- You're right. The photo on the Red Square page was of the Red Rectangle; I removed it, but haven't yet found a free photo of the Red Square (a non-free one had been removed 28 October 2015). Davemck (talk) 20:36, 11 May 2016 (UTC)

Red Rectangle Nebula → Red Rectangle – This nebula is commonly referred to as just the Red Rectangle, and is currently the primary topic for that term. The name "Red Rectangle" is also now officially listed by the IAU - though maybe it's intended to be only the name of the central star, which wouldn't make sense? - Support. This is a nebula that is named the 'Red Rectangle'; I've never seen 'Red Rectangle Nebula' except on Wikipedia. Modest Genius talk 19:07, 18 May 2026 (UTC)
