Assignment
editHello,
I am about to begin the process of revising this article as part of a university assignment. Of course, to those who have edited this article before (or know how to edit Linux-related articles), feedback would very much be appreciated.
Here's my bibliography for the sources I have so far. This is from my current revision of the article in my sandbox.

- Hi @Bfull342, thank you for helping out with Wikipedia! From the sources you used it seems that LinuxG.net is not a reliable source, because it is self published. I hope it's possible to extend the article enough with other sources, but I'm not sure if this article is a very good choice for contributions. Feel free to ask if you have any more questions. - I just moved some of my edits from the sandbox. I'm planning on contributing more sections once they're ready. Bfull342 (talk) 22:34, 23 March 2022 (UTC)
- @Bfull342 Nice, cool table! PhotographyEdits (talk) 10:47, 28 March 2022 (UTC)

which Q4OS version is based on which Debian Version?
editReading the article i would summise that in your nice Releases table one important piece of information is missing: a column that states which Debian Version gives the base for the listed QOS versions ... 2001:9E8:635E:5400:6980:B6C:A9C:1E6B (talk) 17:20, 29 April 2025 (UTC)
Q4OS is source-available software, not open source software
editAt best, Q4OS is Source-Available software because the source code is only available upon request. Even "source-available" is somewhat questionable, because the developer(s?) state that some of the code is not human-readable, and that it is not possible to verify builds or perform security audits even if the user was given access to the source code, because details about the build system are unavailable to the public.
See this rather bizarre forum thread: https://www.q4os.org/forum/viewtopic.php?pid=23719.
- "In order to fulfill licence terms, the code is available on request"
- "most of our code is in human readable form"
- "As far as we know, there is no independent public spot, where someone would analyse or review the code at the moment."
- "an independent security inspection of Q4OS binaries will only be possible, as soon as we will be able to release binary reproducible build system"

editI don't see any explanation of the name. ~2026-18558-54 (talk) 23:22, 5 April 2026 (UTC)
EOL of 3.8, 3.10, 3.13 has passed
editI would edit and change them to unsupported, but the article is locked. ~2026-27403-53 (talk) 16:10, 5 May 2026 (UTC)
