Did Allen coach for a total of 48 seasons, or 49? This obvious internal contradiction in the article destroys its otherwise tremendous credibility, and needs to be rectified by a knowledgable KU or other fan. Rlquall 13:41, 9 Apr 2005 (UTC)

The Naismith Hall of Fame says 49... so we'll go with that. ESkog 19:03, 2 May 2005 (UTC)Reply

A quite strange sentence in the article

"...who originally incorporated Jameson in 1876 and the doctor who delivered Allen..."

So, the person incorporated Jameson and also incorporated the doctor.... That's odd treatment for doctors. 98.67.164.144 (talk) 05:50, 23 February 2010 (UTC)Reply

Life after basketball

Why is there no mention of what Dr. Phog Allen did after retiring from coaching basketball at Kansas? As I understand it, Dr Allen practiced medicine. An important professional career like the practice of medicine certainly should be noted in a Wikipedia biography of someone. His medical degree is noted, but it is not mentioned (or if it is I missed it) that he practiced medicine and operated medical clinics after retiring from basketball. Additionally, and finally, I understand Dr. Allen was unhappy the University of Kansas forced him to retire from coaching because he had reached the mandatory age of 70 - a common practice by many universities and businesses of the time. ~2026-69492-2 (talk) 22:37, 31 January 2026 (UTC)Reply
