The name Dr

edit

Since this man has no accreditations nor is he a Dr anymore. In all academic fairness, the word Dr should be removed from his credentials 2601:484:8000:ACC0:D8AE:AAA9:F135:2D8B (talk) 20:17, 27 January 2025 (UTC)Reply

"Accreditations" by whom? Give us some evidence that he no longer has a Ph.D. Sundayclose (talk) 15:27, 11 February 2025 (UTC)Reply
That is his stage name and the name he is most known as, so it should be included. Although not used routinely. And we need to abide by WP:TITLE. Ashmoo (talk) 15:54, 17 February 2026 (UTC)Reply

Attended ICE raids in Chicago

edit

On January 27, 2025 D Dr Phil joins Chicago immigration raid Dr Phil joined the US border czar, Tom Homan, in a choreographed immigration raid in Chicago, one of several conducted in US cities over the weekend in what Homan claimed was only “the beginning stages” of Donald Trump’s promised threat to deport millions of people from the country. https://www.theguardian.com/us-news/2025/jan/27/trump-immigration-dr-phil-chicago-raids 2601:404:C400:100:4C8D:41FF:9CFA:BA6F (talk) 21:50, 27 January 2025 (UTC)Reply

What's your point? Are you suggesting a change to the article, or just making comments about Dr. Phil? Talk pages are not for general discussion of the topic. If you want the article changed indicate the specific changes in a "change X to Y" format. Sundayclose (talk) 15:38, 11 February 2025 (UTC)Reply
I think the OP is fairly clearly suggesting that the matter be covered in the article. Regular Wikipedians are better placed to consider the exact wording and placement. I certainly have no objection to a more detailed coverage of the relationship with the second Trump administration. All the best: Rich Farmbrough 00:40, 28 February 2025 (UTC).Reply
I know this was a few months ago, but I added one sentence about his participation in an ICE raid in Chicago with sources. GrandDuchyConti 💜(talk) 21:21, 27 May 2025 (UTC)Reply

Phil McGrawDr. Phil – This is his obvious common name FMSky (talk) 06:07, 11 February 2025 (UTC)Reply

Oppose: "Dr. Phil" primarily refers to the show. I support moving Dr. Phil (talk show) to Dr. Phil and keeping this article as is. Consistent with Judge Judy and Judy Sheindlin. ―Howard🌽33 12:42, 11 February 2025 (UTC)Reply
Also worth mentioning: the only other encyclopedic entries I could find on Phil McGraw are Britannica and two (1, 2) entries on Encyclopedia.com. None of which use "Dr. Phil" as the title (although the latter entry on encyclopedia.com uses "Phillip C. McGraw") ―Howard🌽33 18:38, 11 February 2025 (UTC)Reply

cities

edit

Correct: "cites" to "cities". 87.0.218.161 (talk) 16:48, 13 July 2025 (UTC)Reply

Not done The word "cites" appears once in the article (in a citation), and it is used correctly. Sundayclose (talk) 20:35, 13 July 2025 (UTC)Reply

"Controversies"

edit

The article has a Controversial tag, but no discussion of it here. If someone wants the tag kept, could they add some comment on what they think the problem is. In a similar vein, the "Controversies and lawsuits" section should be merged into the main bio text as WP style is to not have Controversy sections. Ashmoo (talk) 15:58, 17 February 2026 (UTC)Reply

Agreed. I came here to say the same thing re: tag. As for "Controversy" sections, agreed again. Biographies should have sections related to specific topics (lawsuits); not generalizations. Any critical analysis (positive or negative) having to do psychological practice related with the Dr. Phil show should be moved to the Oprah Winfrey and the Dr. Phil show under Television career or Approach to psychology. Content discussing specific episodes should be moved to Dr. Phil. Maineartists (talk) 15:03, 12 March 2026 (UTC)Reply
I think I added the tag if I remember correctly. I agree with the above comments that the content should not be removed, but integrated into the appropriate places in this or other articles. I think the tag should probably stay until the cleanup is done TulsaPoliticsFan (talk) 20:02, 12 March 2026 (UTC)Reply
