According to "Archive on 4" (broadcast BBC Radio 4, 26 December 2009, 20:00; details at http://www.bbc.co.uk/programmes/b00pj0y2 ), having recorded her 5 episodes of "The Faceless Ones", Collins was asked to stay for a further 39 episodes, replacing Anneke Wills, but she declined. --Redrose64 (talk) 14:38, 27 December 2009 (UTC)Reply

Date of death

edit

According to various changes on WP, The Times has contradicted itself (the 5th or the 6th). The Telegraph says: "Pauline Collins, born September 3 1940, died November 6 2025". All the other sources I could see do not give a date of death. — Vincent Lefèvre (talk) 19:35, 6 November 2025 (UTC)Reply

The Daily Mail says "In a statement released on Sunday, which came to light on Thursday evening". Thus this would be November 2 (or earlier). — Vincent Lefèvre (talk) 19:46, 6 November 2025 (UTC)Reply
The Wrap says "died Wednesday", i.e. the 5th. But the most reliable sources still do not give a date. — Vincent Lefèvre (talk) 20:23, 6 November 2025 (UTC)Reply
How can a statement released last Sunday not come to light until four days later? Not much of a release if nobody noticed it until now… ~2025-31731-76 (talk) 20:50, 6 November 2025 (UTC)Reply
The Mail is considered a deprecated source for good reason – it isn't reliable. The Times published their obituary earlier, which said she died on 5th. They've now changed that to say "death announced on 6th", so there are now no sources that say any date other than 6th. --Jkaharper (talk) 21:43, 6 November 2025 (UTC)Reply
The 6th is actually the date of the announce of the death. The date of death is still unknown (the date given by The Telegraph has not been confirmed by any other source). — Vincent Lefèvre (talk) 21:51, 6 November 2025 (UTC)Reply
I reiterate what I said above – The Telegraph is a reliable source, the Daily Mail isn't. --Jkaharper (talk) 21:54, 6 November 2025 (UTC)Reply
However, I'm wondering why The Guardian and the BBC still do not give the date of death. — Vincent Lefèvre (talk) 22:02, 6 November 2025 (UTC)Reply
An article in Variety (published about 15 minutes ago) gives the date of November 6, but it seems to be based only on the BBC article, which does not give the date of death. So I doubt that this is reliable. — Vincent Lefèvre (talk) 23:07, 6 November 2025 (UTC)Reply
She passed away on November 5.

The Daily Mail is not a reliable source, not sure this latest source is either. The Guardian's obituary just says death announced 6 November. Is there a definitive source? PatGallacher (talk) 01:03, 9 November 2025 (UTC)Reply

It is well-established on Wikipedia that the Daily Mail is a deprecated source, see WP:DAILYMAIL. PatGallacher (talk) 01:19, 9 November 2025 (UTC)Reply

New York Times says Wednesday. Do they count as deprecated too?

Why not consult WP:RSP? Although it is a little bit awkward that this is behind a login wall. PatGallacher (talk) 01:02, 10 November 2025 (UTC)Reply
