The Lodge of Saint Andrew

edit

The name of the Lodge that Paul Revere belonged to was "The Lodge of Saint Andrew" not Saint Andrew's Lodge. HollTel (talk) 03:34, 8 May 2025 (UTC)Reply

Over time and in different circumstances the lodge has used variations of its name. In 1938 George Wightman, a member of the lodge, explored the names (listing eight variations) used by the lodge and concluded that the Lodge of Saint Andrew was the preferred name. Wightman’s report includes many examples of how the lodge's name has been expressed in publications, on documents, and on objects. See Lodge of St. Andrew Bi-centennial Memorial 1756-1956, pp. 29-27. Hi editors,

I recently added a factual clarification to the Paul Revere article based on the History.com piece “9 Things You May Not Know About Paul Revere” (https://www.history.com/news/paul-revere-midnight-ride-facts). My goal was simply to improve accuracy regarding the “British are coming” phrase.

I also maintain an educational site, Very Cool Facts, which includes a referenced summary of that same verified information: https://www.verycoolfacts.com/facts/paul-revere-was-a-dentist-and-never-shouted-that-famous-warning.

I think my edit with this external link may have been blocked by the spam filter (new account), could an experienced editor please review it and, if appropriate, add it under *External links*?

Thank you for your time and for maintaining such high standards on Wikipedia. Mmacbacon (talk) 17:00, 10 November 2025 (UTC) axolotlReply

I’m not seeing your edit in the page’s history. Can you tell us more about what you are trying to edit, and when?
You may also want to review what’s being said on this topic on the page about the Midnight Ride.

Paul Revere's involvement in Freemasonry

edit

I would like to add these amplifications to the Freemasonry subheading in this article:

Raised a Master Mason in 1761, Revere served as Master of St. Andrew’s Lodge in 1771, 1778-1779, and 1781-1782. Revere helped establish Rising States Lodge in 1784 and was Master of the lodge 1787-1789 and 1791-1793. Source: Paul Revere-Artisan, Businessman, and Patriot: The Man Behind the Myth, p. 121, 126, 136.

As Grand Master he chartered 23 new lodges, almost doubling the number of lodges under the Grand Lodge’s jurisdiction. Source: American Freemasons: Three Centuries of Building Communities, p. 37 Anderson2026 (talk) 19:23, 28 February 2026 (UTC)Reply

Request to add Public Health efforts to page

edit

Multiple sources note that Paul Revere was the nations first Health Officer (1799) and President of the Board of Health. Following dangerous outbreaks of yellow fever and cholera, the Town of Boston appointed Revere to lead the newly created Board of Health to improve sanitation and prevent disease spread.
