Notes for Candidate Rosenberg
editI’m making this discussion page since I've noticed an alarming pattern surrounding edits to the NDP candidate Jäger Rosenberg.
I’ll keep this fairly brief: The User:Carolebax has repeatedly reverted my edits to delete the detail that Rosenberg was a failed nomination candidate for the BD NDP. I have two problems with this.
- This detail is unnecessary on this page. No other candidate has previous failed nomination bids listed. For all other candidates the notes section has been used to list significant prior political offices or candidacies provincial or federal elections. Therefore a failed provincial nomination bid does not align with the given level of detail. This section can be left blank, as done for many candidates.
- The account making these edits (User:Carolebax) was first made to comment in the deletion discussion for the page about Rosenberg. The account has no other substantial edits except for that discussion, and this page. This is notable because the discussion provided significant evidence showing that an account strongly linked to Rosenberg had written his own page, including many false and self-aggrandizing claims. The targeted nature of User:Carolebax's edits, and the strong evidence of Rosenberg using Wikipedia accounts to attempt to inflate his notoriety, leads me to conclude that this account is likely run by Rosenberg.
While the details of nomination candidacies seems trivial, it is representative of a far broader campaign to attempt to falsely boost the profile of Rosenberg, and that's simply not what Wikipedia is for. That is why I reiterate that my edits should be maintained, and I ask that User:Carolebax respect this and engage in this dialogue, rather than switching to insults, as they have chosen to do in their edit comments. - Agree: When I took on the task of cleaning up and completing this article series (NDP candidate list articles), I chose not to include information about candidates having previously been unsuccessful nomination contestants, because finding reliable independent sources was often impossible, and also because they are not considered especially notable political events by themselves. - Where did I insult you? You seem very happy to make accusations. You made your account for the same discussion and almost your entire edit history seems to revolve around this candidate. Seems strange. Carolebax (talk) 05:15, 3 May 2025 (UTC)
- To start, I don't think any of your response focussed on the actual details of the discussion regarding specific edits to this page, which is an odd approach. I construed your edit calling me "obtuse" as an insult, perhaps that was not your intention but it was the result nevertheless. Furthermore, I wish my edits did not revolve around this candidate, but I unfortunately seem to be the first person to notice a widespread campaign to use Wikipedia to attempt to falsely make a failed candidate seem notable.
