Key Facts not up to date

edit

Hello, I have never done this before, however when I browsed the top section today, I saw that some of the facts & figures given there are not up to date anymore. In particular, it says: "Nestlé has 447 factories, operates in 189 countries, and employs around 339,000 people."

When double checking with the Nestlé at a glance page (https://www.nestle.com/about/overview), it says: - 340 factories - operates in 188 countries - approx. 270,000 employees

Would it be possible to update this information? 194.147.52.100 (talk) 10:47, 21 November 2024 (UTC)Reply

Similarly - in the ice cream business apparently Magnum is now largest at 21%, about twice as large as the runner-up Froneri. One can eventually see in the current article that most of its information is dated (see the update there around 2020). But the old information is fairly confusing, and in the present tense. Compare https://businesschief.com/news/a-clean-break-magnum-begins-life-independent-from-unilever - which has more relevance to Magnum, but casts some light on certain statements on the Nestlé page. It is hard to make out, on this page, what the current status of the various divisions is. Gregory Cherlin (talk) 02:15, 15 December 2025 (UTC)Reply

Removal of criticisms from lead

edit

Hi @John baost, could you please elaborate on your reasons for removing a significant portion of the criticisms from the lead? As far as I can tell, it is accurate, and WP:DUE. ARandomName123 (talk)Ping me! 03:52, 16 September 2025 (UTC)Reply

hello. Isn't necessary that much information from something that already have a article about it. It is linked in the sentence. Almost no other food company with criticism like it have that information in the head, only in the article. John baost (talk) 19:12, 17 September 2025 (UTC)Reply
@John baost: Given the amount of controversies Nestle has been in along with the amount of coverage it has received, I would expect for it to have more mention of its criticisms than other food companies. To be fair, it was a bit long before, but I shortened it a bit. Outright removal of most of the paragraph as you have done, however, seems excessive. No problem. Thats OK. John baost (talk) 20:51, 17 September 2025 (UTC)Reply

Around the same time, Nestlé’s Milo—first introduced in 1934—also gained traction in Commonwealth countries, where it was promoted as a nutritional supplement for children and soldiers[1] Milo Emu (talk) 23:03, 30 September 2025 (UTC)Reply
