Release date

Do not add a release date without a source. Direct-to-video films are difficult to source on release dates, especially older films, so try to find a source beyond some statement saying Nail Gun Massacre (1986) or whatever year they had chosen to place here. IMDb, TheMovieDB, and Blu-Ray.com all have this listed as a 1985 film. The poster created by Texas Frightmare Weekend to promote the limited edition VHS release says explicitly "The 1985 Direct-To-Video Slasher Flick" (Texas Frightmare Weekend creator Loyd Cryer was a friend of director Terry Lofton, and is now the global copyright owner). The last credit card on the recent 88 Films Blu-Ray release (which looks to be period titles, not a recent addition) says "Copyright 1985 Futuristic Films". Is this enough to change the release year to 1985? What's the source for the 1987 date? JZ (talk) 04:30, 26 February 2024 (UTC)Reply
We don't use databases like IMDb (see WP:RS/IMDb) or Blu-Ray.com as as sources. A copyright is not really a symbol of a year of release. While IMDb does cite some Spanish release, we'd need to find a source that backs this up, because all the others are vague without little detail, compared to the film being screened at the Cannes Film Market, its unlikely the film had distribution beforehand.
