allegations of sexual predation
editThere are currently multiple allegations of sexual predation, grooming minors, coercive behavior towards women and minors (children), intimidation and non-consensual sexual activity. https://www.facebook.com/boredphoto/posts/10157235451342466 User:Pedant (talk) 19:20, 2 July 2020 (UTC)
Statement from Winona LaDuke's org, Honor the Earth (apparently he was on their board):
Honor the Earth Board Statement Regarding Nahko, July 8,2020
Honor the Earth Board Statement Regarding Nahko
July 8,2020
It is with great sadness that we learn of accusations against Nahko Bear for sexually inappropriate behavior.
In keeping with the gravity of the situation, Nahko has resigned from the board of Honor the Earth.
Honor the Earth has a zero-tolerance policy for sexual harassment and inappropriate sexual behavior.
We remain committed to protecting the work of our communities, and the healing needed from intergenerational trauma. Oppression of women and girls is oppression of the earth.
We pray for healing and justice for the women who have come forward and commit to engaging in restorative justice.

- Is there any reason this hasn't been included in the article under a header like "Controversies"? TipsyElephant (talk) 15:35, 22 November 2020 (UTC)
- Nobody has yet managed to do this properly, and I think it can be boiled down to a few reasons. First, things needs referencing with reliable sources, and any first hand reports coming from Facebook (or twitter, or blogs, or reddit, or petition sites, or 'opinion pieces', etc) are not in themselves reliable. Second, any allegations which have been reliably reported need to be properly represented, that is, without original research or anything made-up or inferred from unreliable sources. Third, and related to the previous point, while there has been apologies issued, there have also been specific denials, which should also be considered. So, like I said nobody has managed to do this. -- zzuuzz (talk) 16:10, 22 November 2020 (UTC)

editThe last edits involving removal due to "copyright violation" are not constructive, and unilaterally false. The source did not own copywright on any material, and none was copy-pasted. I am beginning to suspect that there is an ulterior motive in keeping this page a stub, there are plenty of reliable sources available [1] for example, this source is not only a reliable source, it shows that the source that was supposedly infringed on, was not. Perhaps we should refrain from mentioning the controversy as it is extremely difficult to do so without it being unbalanced and unrepresentative of the situation. It is impossible to cite that there have been no legal action taken against this person, as you can not prove a negative. There are no cases, how do you cite that? (you cant). As stated before this is all personal accounts and screenshots of statements made on Facebook and Instagram, there has been actual Vandalism on this page, and the current state of the article encourages it. Official album list and titles
editNahko & Medicine for the People have eight unique studio albums: On the Verge (2012) Dark as Night (2013) Hoka (2016) Take Your Power Back (2020) beautiful trouble (2021) Trenches (2023) On the Verge: 10 Year Anniversary (2024) Dark as Night: Acoustic Edition (2024)
This user keeps removing the Dark as Night Acoustic Edition, which is a completely new album featuring new acoustic recordings of the songs from Dark as Night, and keeps adding "Acoustic Edition" to the title of On the Verge: 10 Year Anniversary Edition despite the album cover not displaying the "Acoustic Edition" subtitle, as seen on the band's official website here: https://www.nahko.com/music
This user is edit warring with me and telling ME to stop edit warring with HIM despite my info being correct and his being incorrect. 208.77.56.242 (talk) 20:30, 4 August 2025 (UTC)
- The issue is resolved now. Btw, this is not a dispute resolution venue. Revirvlkodlaku (talk) 03:58, 5 August 2025 (UTC)
- The issue is not resolved until you stop changing the album titles to false ones. I have repeatedly provided the official source of the correct titles and you continue to "fix" them to incorrect titles. The titles you are giving the albums are just the descriptions of the albums in black text to the right of the album covers at https://www.nahko.com/music. The titles I am using are the official titles as plainly seen on the album covers themselves. Let this matter now be legitimately resolved. 208.77.56.242 (talk) 15:10, 6 August 2025 (UTC)
- I think you've got it backward, actually: the titles I'm insisting on (besides the punctuation, neither version of which is on the actual album covers) are the ones on the album covers, whereas you seem to prefer the titles by which they are described on the website. Revirvlkodlaku (talk) 02:37, 7 August 2025 (UTC)
- Would you please actually LOOK at the album cover for On the Verge: 10 Year Anniversary Edition at the link I provided, for Christ's sake? If you would, you would very plainly see the title I'm using right there as plain as day on the cover of the album on the band's official website, with the title you're using being the album's description in black text off to the right of the album cover. 208.77.56.242 (talk) 19:07, 7 August 2025 (UTC)
- Hey bud, there's no call for being rude. The thing is, depending on the source, the album cover sometimes has "10 Year Anniversary Edition" printed on it, and sometimes it doesn't, so it looks like we're both right (and wrong) on that point. However, EVERY version of the album cover states "Acoustic Edition", so that will stay. If you persist in being rude, I will stop engaging with you on the topic and refer it to 3o. Revirvlkodlaku (talk) 03:46, 8 August 2025 (UTC)
- You have to be trolling me...it's the only explanation for why you're pretending the cover of the album on the link I've provided says "Acoustic Edition". I wish I could post images here, because I am TELLING you, the COVER OF THE ALBUM on the link I've presented, the band's OFFICIAL WEBSITE, does NOT say "Acoustic Edition" on it. Look again: FOUR ALBUMS FROM THE TOP at http://www.nahko.com/music. You are being abusive and disingenuous, and so I am reporting you and this situation. 208.77.56.242 (talk) 18:15, 9 August 2025 (UTC)
- Ok IP, if your imagination only permits you to deduce one explanation from this situation, and that explanation is that I'm trolling...then I don't really know how to help you. Take a look at these links, and if you're still not convinced of what I'm trying to tell you, then let's request a third opinion: Discogs; Apple Music. Revirvlkodlaku (talk) 03:11, 10 August 2025 (UTC)
- Those links are not the band's official website, which trumps all other sources. The source I've provided is the band's official site, where the cover shows the album's official title. Created a dispute here: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wikipedia:Third_opinion#Active_disagreements 208.77.56.242 (talk) 15:35, 10 August 2025 (UTC)
- I disagree that the band's official website trumps the album presentation on sites that actually sell the album, such as Apple Music, as official websites often contain errors, but I guess we'll see where 3o lands on this. Revirvlkodlaku (talk) 16:17, 10 August 2025 (UTC)
- The official website shows the official cover of the album, which shows its official title (which, if you look at the cover art on the site, does not say "Acoustic Edition" as you claimed it does), and next to the cover in black text is an explanation of what the album is: a 10th anniversary acoustic edition. Places like Apple Music and Discogs likely needed to incorporate that explanation onto the cover so people would know what they're buying. However, what is shown on the official website's album cover art should be treated as the official title. I'm surprised you would argue that the official source should not be officially recognized in precedence over third-party sources. 208.77.56.242 (talk) 20:17, 11 August 2025 (UTC)
- I disagree with that completely. Bands, or whoever runs their websites, often make errors on their pages, and they also often omit information that can be found elsewhere. It's possible that the image on the band's website is an early print of the album cover and that "Acoustic Edition" was added later, or that the record label made the change, etc. In this type of case, I think what should be considered official is what you would get if you purchased the record, which appears to be what Discogs and Apple Music show. Revirvlkodlaku (talk) 03:51, 12 August 2025 (UTC)
- The physical album's cover does not say "Acoustic Edition", as seen here: https://shop.nahko.com/products/on-the-verge-10th-anniversary-acoustic-edition-cd. I own the CD and can confirm that is what is printed on it. There is absolutely no version of the album cover anywhere on the band's official site that says "Acoustic Edition" on it, and the physical album also does not. Regardless of whatever is on Apple or Discogs, I feel the band's website and physical print of the album speak for themselves as to what the official title is as far as the band is concerned. 208.77.56.242 (talk) 18:10, 13 August 2025 (UTC)
- Hmm, I suppose that changes things quite a bit. I'm not sure why the covers on both AM and Discogs are different, but if the physical copies themselves do not include the words "Acoustic Edition", that settles the matter for me. Revirvlkodlaku (talk) 18:17, 13 August 2025 (UTC)
- Thank you. For the record, here's another link that shows the physical albums alongside the digital ones: https://shop.nahko.com/collections/media. I've also discovered a unique acoustic EP of songs from Take Your Power Back, found here - https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0B4FB9CKK/ref=sr_1_1?crid=2R7HYRYM0BQNN&dib=eyJ2IjoiMSJ9.4sakP4S6GFx0xCMJAZa9_Ybo5qE9b5q8i9uQLJPqVdj-wCJ2Amf13ROv7KB28NkaLQ0C2TWTqN0h9Mf3pkWw0FPpcGm5MI6T5VL9vlQbxYWeX4QX0Nz66bjPtVFdlwOm0LP9vAOvc9jaVT0MomBXJkUlsn0HctSemzJPreKv24eAUOUWBLuLO1cz_xqvTvQShK2A8e2WTdzRNZ21DwuysMGqIRxPR_4sfLXQ_IfsDno.I0j7OkmQ3O74K_dcxKQ-k-osdgPuDVytblz1fk61XNs&dib_tag=se&keywords=take+your+power+back+acoustic&qid=1755109373&s=music&sprefix=take+your+power+back+acoustic%2Cpopular%2C128&sr=1-1-catcorr - so that has also been added to the album list. 208.77.56.242 (talk) 18:30, 13 August 2025 (UTC)
- Sounds good. Sorry for the hassle, though I may continue to quibble with your edits here and there ;) Revirvlkodlaku (talk) 20:26, 13 August 2025 (UTC)
