Daily Mail controversy section

edit

Unless anyone here specifically objects to it, I think I will soon be spinning out some of the material from the Daily Mail controversy section into a completely separate article about the news article "Why no child is safe from the sinister cult of emo" itself. I believe that giving four paragraphs worth of attention to such a specific incident, in the band's biography, is WP:UNDUE weight. Even if the original news article was mainly about bashing MCR, at most, I could see a paragraph about it being warranted here, and I believe it draws too much attention to a specific incident. WP:CSECTION and WP:NPOV apply, and I'm sure there's something related to WP:BLPs that it goes against as well.

As for if the news article itself is notable, the content in this article as it is right now already warrants independent notability in my opinion, but there's actually retrospective coverage regarding the article and how it warped public perception of Emo sub-culture. So, given its impact on the entire sub-culture, its impact goes further than merely public perception of My Chemical Romance, and it should likely be covered in its own article. Unless anyone objects, I'll likely make an article about this in the coming days. Trimming of the Daily Mail controversy section in this article could be done as well. λ NegativeMP1 05:37, 1 August 2025 (UTC)Reply

I think a paragraph about the incident here is reasonable, maybe two, but I'm with you on the existing length being undue. Excellent point. No comment in regard to another article about the controversy. If you feel so inclined about that, go for it. mftp dan oops 05:58, 1 August 2025 (UTC)Reply
I've went ahead and reduced it to a paragraph. I also went ahead and did the same thing to the articles coverage about Glenn Beck's criticism towards "Sing" (trimming it down drastically), as it just... isn't really relevant to the greater history of the band. This whole article honestly needs to be redone. The biography section is so disorganized with pieces of information that don't naturally flow. Maybe that'll be my next big project. In the meanwhile though, I still think that an article for the Daily Mail stuff is warranted, but that's something to worry about later. λ NegativeMP1 06:57, 10 September 2025 (UTC)Reply
What section of the article is this in? Th3 bl4ck p4r4d3r i5 d34d (talk) 21:33, 22 January 2026 (UTC)Reply

2020 tours

edit

the "2020s" area of the "tours" section, while already linking to the pages for the reunion and long live tours, should include a few sentences about the conclusion of the reunion tour and start of the long live tours. any inclusion of lore, as someone else suggested, isn't entirely necessary; a short blurb about the tours in general should be good. Joe Rogan and My Chemical Romance relation

edit

The article claims that My Chemical Romance and Joe Rogan are first cousins once removed, and the linked interviews stated that the Ways' "Aunt Josie" was Rogan's grandmother. This would imply that Rogan and the Ways are first cousins once removed, with the former being from the younger generation, and the latter two from the older gen despite both being born after Rogan.

However, just because Gerard only said "aunt" doesn't necessarily mean he meant "aunt" as in one of his parent's sibings. Now, it's actually quite common for a cousin once removed from the older generation to actually be younger than the other one from the newer gen (my family included), but even then I realized this particular example didn't add up.

So I took the time to research the relation. My cousin, who is a diehard MCR fan, knows about their grandmother, Elena Lee Rush (née Spadone), who is in fact the thesis of their song "Helena". Then I went to Geneastar which has the family tree. Their grandma Elena is maternal, she only had one other child (a son), and she also had an older sister named Josephine. Turns out she was that "Aunt Josie", Joe Rogan's grandmother, making her the Ways' GREAT-aunt and therefore making MCR second cousins with Rogan, not first cousins once removed.

That's great, but these sources are all unfortunately created by volunteers and thus unsuitable for Wikipedia. mftp dan oops 15:04, 20 May 2026 (UTC)Reply

Add Leathermouth to spinoffs as it is labeled as a spinoff of MCR on its own page but MCR is not listed as having Leathermouth as a spinoff on this page. JortsJortson (talk) 23:00, 27 May 2026 (UTC)Reply
