editFor some reason I can not edit the article. The "climb to 1000 m (300 ft)" should probably be "climb to 1000 ft (300 m)" or "climb to 1000 m (3300 ft)". — Preceding unsigned comment added by 89.27.101.81 (talk) 13:53, 2 October 2011 (UTC)
First across the Andes?
editThe claim to be the first aircraft to fly across the Andes is also made for the Bristol M.1C monoplane. - They can't both be true. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bristol_M.1 ~2025-41199-55 (talk) 15:01, 14 January 2026 (UTC)
- Both claims appear to be correctly sourced, what the sources may not be making clear is the difference between the two crossings, one was from Chile to Argentina and the other was reversed. Depending on the prevailing wind one direction would be much easier than the other, flying downwind increases ground speed and would use the ridge lift from the mountains, helping to climb over them.
