Substantial revision (Feb 2022)
editHi world! I just substantially revised this article and explained my edits in my publish notes; a lot of info in the article was drawn from extremely outdated research studies from the 1980s and there were also some unsubstantiated statements. I've added updated info from more recent research studies. I also made edits to improve the page structure; there were previously a number of subsections in the "Marriage between homosexual and heterosexual partners" that didn't make a lot of sense -- I retained three of them as Heading 1 sections and deleted two subsections that didn't warrant inclusion as standalone sections. Finally, I deleted a references maintenance template because I believe I addressed it, and also deleted the "further reading" section because it consisted only of 4 sources published in the late 70s to early 90s that aren't relevant today (except perhaps as part of historical research). If you have any questions, disagree with any of my edits, or have further suggestions related to them, please let me know! RadicalCopyeditor (talk) 03:34, 28 February 2022 (UTC)
Does this apply to romantic orientation?
editMy girlfriend is aromantic and I'm a regular straight guy, our relationship is unconventional but it works (it's like a hybrid where it's romantic from my end and QPR from her end), many just see it as a regular boyfriend-girlfriend type pairing but it has its own set of challenges. Would we be considered a mixed-orientation couple or no? Or is the answer more complicated than that? She thinks yes, we're definitely mixed-orientation but I'm not sure but think I kind of agree with her, but I also know it's not the same as ace-allo or bi/pan-het relationships. 2600:1016:A110:FF35:7560:33CC:E007:DBAC (talk) 21:12, 15 September 2024 (UTC)
Garbled sentence--help?
editnear the end, this appears:
- a DC State Department official marries a woman to hide from the Lavender Scare, keep his position in government, and the DC elite.
I don't know what the original intention was, but the last phrase needs a verb like the preceding 2 phrases:
- ...marries a woman to:
- hide from the Lavender Scare
- keep his position in government
- [what] the DC elite
to fool the DC elite? to taunt the DC elite? to avoid the DC elite? to remain part of the DC elite?
if someone else can figure this out, that would be great. I'm just dropping in here while reading this article; might try to track down the contributor or the source some other time when I have the time. Elf | Talk 00:56, 9 June 2026 (UTC)
