I attempted the merger, didn't work technically, the message is "that page already exists ...", this has been discussed enough and is OK to do.Gmotamedi 02:30, 29 December 2005 (UTC)Reply

Nationalist hero?

edit

The man founded a soviet socialist republic and tried to separate Gilan from Iran and join it with the USSR. He therefore most certainly was not a nationalist, and using the term hero is unverfiable and unencyclopedic anyway. The article seems to be copied from Islamic republic textbooks rather than proper sources. Shervink 14:52, 6 February 2007 (UTC)shervinkReply

Shervink's view of Mirza Kuchik Khan is contarary to the views of all authors that have written about him and his movement. I strongly reccommend Shervink read the following books that were published well before the Islamic Revolution:

1. Sardar-e Jangle by Ebrahim Fakhraii 2. Qiam-e Jangal by Esmaiil Raiin74.96.148.137 (talk) 22:00, 12 August 2011 (UTC)Reply

About the nickname

`Kuchak` means `small` in Turkic languages, in the case of Iran it is Azeri Turkic language. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 85.106.174.94 (talk) 09:47, 15 July 2009 (UTC)Reply

This is not correct. What this comment is probably talking about is the word "kiçik" which is from Azeri, different in pronounciation and unrelated to this subject. The word "kučak" (in Persian: کوچک) comes from Pahlavi/middle Persian and is not as the person above claims turkic. what's more, as the person above might find it surprising, mirza kuchak khan (in Gilaki: ميرزا کوچي خان) was in fact a Gilak, born in Gilan where the primary language was and in some part still is Gilaki, a language that has even less turkish loanwords than Persian does and is believed to be the continuation of Parthian, an Iranian language and not to their surprise turkic.
