Mechanical

edit

In this context, "mechanical" is kind of a translation of ancient Greek banausos... AnonMoos (talk) 17:48, 12 August 2009 (UTC)Reply

Merge proposal

edit

Most of this article's content is already in the A Midsummer Night's Dream article. This article contains no real sources (only the play itself). I see no benefit of this stand-alone article unless it were substantially expanded. Thoughts? — Henry chianski (talk) 18:27, 24 December 2017 (UTC)Reply

Oppose I say there's room for a separate overview article, cf. the articles on the individual characters (like Snug, the one with the least sources available, I think). They are usually (and most prolifically, in terms of available sources) discussed as a group. On the other hand, a fully expanded version of this article might make apposite the question of whether the character articles should be merged here. But as I said, not until this article is fully expanded. --Xover (talk) 20:12, 1 February 2018 (UTC)Reply

Honestly I agree with it staying here, but I think it should have a bit more detail to it. (BenC665 (talk) 14:59, 29 April 2018 (UTC))Reply

Contradiction with Francis Flute Article

edit

This article and the separate article for Francis Flute have a line almost exactly the same attributed to the exact same source, but they contradict eachother on the age of Flute

From this article: "Flute is a young, excited actor who is disappointed when he finds he is meant to play a woman (Thisbe) in their interlude before the duke and the duchess.[10]"

From the Francis Flute Article: "Flute is an old, excited actor who is disappointed when he finds he is meant to play a woman (Thisbe) in their interlude before the duke and the duchess.[2]"

Both cite Blits 2003, p. 46. I looked at the source and nothing is mentioned of Flute's age on page 46, though later on page 157 it is stated, "...the young Flute...". I cannot find much else about Flute's age at the moment (too tired and busy to spend more time than I have on this) but I've seen contradictory ages from different companies when I try to look it up. I'm going to change it to young but will revert it if there are any objections from anyone more knowledgeable (so basically anyone lol). AstreaL01 (talk) 20:41, 31 January 2026 (UTC)Reply
