Comment: Wikipedia:Manual_of_Style/Icons says Flag icons may be relevant in some subject areas, where the subject actually represents that country or nationality – such as military units or national sports teams. Here, there's no hint that the winners represent the USA. Please remove the flags. Hoary (talk) 22:03, 20 November 2024 (UTC)
Comment: Flags were originally added per consistency with articles for similar races (e.g. Grandma's Marathon), but athleteflag tags were removed per Wikipedia Style Guide. Thank you for feedback! Aschbren (talk) 09:31, 21 November 2024 (UTC)
Nationality
editPerhaps, Aschbren, I should have phrased the comment on flag icons (in the section above) in some other way. This older version shows that every winner was American, and it's rather a pity that this has been lost. However, "As of 2024, every winner of each of the three events has been American" would need to cite a source. -- Hoary (talk) 09:14, 23 November 2024 (UTC)
