This article reads like a theologian's essay quoting the Bible directly, when an encyclopedia article should instead describe their descriptions and cite their interpretations. Translations also vary a lot in their descriptions and it's often notoriously difficult to really know what real-world items some verses were referring to. The article also lacks a section about the historicity, that it's most likely mythological, that it's unnecessary to try to really find out what manna really must have been (i.e. an insect product, mushroom, dew and other speculation)... This doesn't mean that the most notable speculation cannot be included, in their context with secondary sources. —PaleoNeonate06:54, 31 October 2021 (UTC)Reply

Gaming

edit

Not sure if this is a good or useful suggestion but: it would be helpful to have at the top something like “Not to be confused with Mana (Oceanian Cultures), the namesake of Mana (gaming)”

Or maybe “Not to be confused with Mana (gaming), or its namesake Mana (Oceanian Cultures)”

I always assumed “mana” in video games was from the “mana/manna” in this article. I’m guessing it’s a common misconception - ive been told before that “mana” is from the bible, and it makes sense that western games would ape a western concept, and its heavenly food or whatever so it kinda fits.

It didn’t occur to me that I could be wrong until I saw the Polynesian mana on the disambiguation page, and even THEN i still thought I was right and i came to *this* page assuming it’s the “mana” i was interested in. Its only due to extreme idleness that i bothered double-checking and read Mana (gaming) which corrected me.

(To be fair, the only reason I came here in the first place was because I thought it was weird they named mana after what is specifically food, when mana is never portrayed as food, so im definitely the idiot - but regardless, I came here because of gaming and if thats common then the gaming-relevant info should be right at the top!). 123.243.231.2 (talk) 08:00, 24 August 2025 (UTC)Reply
