ACAV as IFV?

edit

Could the ACAV be considered an early form of an IFV? Dabiggestchungus (talk) 00:40, 25 October 2022 (UTC)Reply

No. It is just a M113 with a gun shield. It did not even come close to fulfilling the concept of an IFV. 70.107.192.191 (talk) 21:02, 2 November 2023 (UTC)Reply
Yes, especially as employed by ARVN as opposed to the US Army. ACAVs were deployed in a quasi-IFV role of remaining actively engaged and providing fire support to the dismounted infantry squad, as opposed to the strightforward APC role of a "battlefield taxi" which immediately withdrew after dismounting and did not engage in combat. Has the ironic usage of Gavin made it notable in itself?

edit

Despite the fact virtually nobody, ever, has referred to a M113 in practice as a Gavin... The name has gained a sort of post-ironic usage in enthusiast fourms online, owing mostly to the infamy of "sparky".

My question would be; does this, in an ironic twist, make it notable enough to mention? ConnieC420 (talk) 17:10, 23 November 2025 (UTC)Reply

Sources? And do those source get anywhere near WP:RS? Andy Dingley (talk) 17:35, 23 November 2025 (UTC)Reply
Probably not, no ConnieC420 (talk) 03:00, 24 November 2025 (UTC)Reply
@ConnieC420 I'd say that it would be worthwhile to add like half a paragraph explaining the shitposting around this vehicle including the Gavin and areogavin Grzyboni (talk) 20:49, 8 March 2026 (UTC)Reply
