Untitled discussion
editLouhi is actually unrelated to Loviatar. Loviatar is the goddess of plagues, daughter of the King and Queen of the underworld, and though they have similar names, they are in fact distinct.--Idran 21:20, 7 March 2006 (UTC)
- Well it's been 20 years, this is in fact false, now this Louhi article is only about the Kalevala character with no actual mythology being described, which is all in Loviatar. Feels a bit useless to have two separate articles. --Vilutar (talk) 19:23, 25 May 2025 (UTC)
- I'd say it's worse than useless. This page blocks the readers from finding the content at Loviatar. Perhaps start a formal merge discussion and let it run for some time before merging? Jähmefyysikko (talk) 19:41, 25 May 2025 (UTC)
- Aight, I did and hopefully I started it correctly. --Vilutar (talk) 05:37, 26 May 2025 (UTC)

Split "Other meanings" into a disambiguation page?
editPerhaps the "Other meanings" section should be split into a separate disambiguation page, at least regarding the ships and Louhi network. The first sentence on Louhi as trance might be incorporated elsewhere into the article. MKFI (talk) 10:07, 1 October 2011 (UTC)

Merge proposal
edit- The following discussion is closed. Please do not modify it. Subsequent comments should be made in a new section. A summary of the conclusions reached follows.
- The result of this discussion was to merge. Vilutar (talk) 10:39, 19 June 2025 (UTC)
I propose merging Louhi and Loviatar. The articles are about the same mythological figure which were split into 2 different ones in Kalevala but are the one and the same in real mythology. The name of the merged article should be Louhi in my opinion. --Vilutar (talk) 05:34, 26 May 2025 (UTC)
- Support merge. Louhi also seems a good name, since it is the most recognizable variant. Jähmefyysikko (talk) 18:25, 30 May 2025 (UTC)
