Copyvio?

Earwig shows a 40.5% because of the title being repeated. Some sentences can be reworded to reduce plagiarism:

  • [...] timpani, two oboes, strings and continuo. can you rearrange this list?
sorry, no, that is a standard order in classical music which you will find in all articles on the topic, inclusding FAs --GA
  • [...], the inauguration of the town council. -->[...], the establishment of the town council.
sorry, no, that's the standard translation of Ratswahl --GA

Source Review

edit

All sources are reliable. Cos (X + Z) 23:54, 30 September 2025 (UTC)Reply

  • [3] needs page numbers
    fixed those without --GA
  • will spot-check when reading prose
  • [12]'s page range needs to change to 504-506 because I don't see the E minor part in the current range.
sourced the key separately (I thought it was repeated from the table) --GA
  • the second mention of [13] needs additionally p. 504 because I don't see the A minor part in its current page.
    similarly --Gerda Arendt (talk) 19:20, 4 October 2025 (UTC)Reply
    Changes look good. :) Cos (X + Z) 19:29, 4 October 2025 (UTC)Reply

Music

  • [...]of [an] unusual five measures[...]
I tried to move "unusual" - "measures" is a plural, and "an" seems not to match (but English is not my first language ...) --GA
  • add a translation of "Kommst du nun, Jesu, vom Himmel herunter auf Erden"
done (from the linked article) --Gerda Arendt (talk) 19:28, 4 October 2025 (UTC)Reply
    Again, changes look good. :) Cos (X + Z) 19:31, 4 October 2025 (UTC)Reply
  • In the final movement of his Christmas Oratorio[,] Bach would later embed the chorale in doric mode in a concerto in D major. how is this relevant? Also this isn't mentioned in any of the sources.
well, this is trying to mention a similarity to something more familiar, - the Christmas Oratorio being much better known than cantatas. I added a ref, p. 182 of same book. --GA
  • [...]as [a] four-part vocal setting doubled by the strings and oboes, with independent parts for [the] three trumpets and [the] timpani.
I'm not sure, comparing other works, such as the Christmas oratorio, Jauchzet, frohlocket! Auf, preiset die Tage, BWV 248 I#1 (last para). --Gerda Arendt (talk) 20:18, 4 October 2025 (UTC)Reply

Recordings

edit
  • why aren't all recordings in the source on the table?
that would be 47 and rising, - the selection is usually of the five complete sets, the Thomanerchor, other cycles (Richter, Werner), other interesting performers with links --GA
  • the table needs consistent titles; either all of them translated or all of them as original
not sure, they are the original titles of the recordings, - some trying to be international, others not so --GA
  • Helmut Krebs and Franz Kelch are not mentioned in source
good catch, sorry about that (probably to copying and not completely adjusting) --GA
  • swap Pforzheim Chamber Orchestra with Württemberg Chamber Orchestra of Heilbronn to avoid OR
    same --GA
  • swap Decca with Archiv Produktion to avoid OR
    same --GA
  • swap Chorus Viennensis with Gerhard Schmidt-Gaden to avoid OR
Chorus removed (chorale conductors are normally not listed) --GA
  • swap Leonhardt-Consort with Concentus Musicus Wien to avoid OR
done, - thanks for sharp eyes, - I'll now correct the German Wikipedia that faithfully translated the mistakes. --Gerda Arendt (talk) 20:49, 4 October 2025 (UTC)Reply
