New guinea is an island that, according to continental shelves is part of the Australian continent. Half of the island (including Puncak Jaya/Carstensz) is part of Indonesia wheras the other half is Papua New Guinea. I think it is misleading to have a list of Ultras in Oceania without including Puncak Jaya which is widely regarded as the highest mountain in Oceana. I have therefore copied the entry for Papua into on the list of Ultras in indonesia to the list of ultras in indonesia as geographically they are part of oceania. ----GreatestrowereverTalk Page 19:06, 5 October 2008 (UTC)
- Good idea; my only rationale was to have the continents boundaries done politically rather than geographically. Mark J (talk) 20:38, 5 October 2008 (UTC)
Indian Ocean
editI've removed the list of southern Indian Ocean islands from the page (and affixes it below). This isn't part of Oceania - both islands would notmally be considered subantarctic and listed with Antarctica. Grutness...wha? 00:32, 24 March 2021 (UTC)
- I restore these. They are not listed in Africa, Antarctica or anywhere else and Southern Indian Ocean is mentioned in Ultra-prominent peak as listed in Oceania list. They have to be moved if they shall not be here, not deleted.--BIL (talk) 21:36, 16 May 2021 (UTC)
