Proposal to Add Tadabbur Journal to the List of Open-Access Journals
editI propose adding Tadabbur Journal (مجلة تدبر) to this list of open-access journals, as it meets the commonly applied inclusion criteria for academic open-access publications.
Journal overview: Tadabbur Journal is a peer-reviewed, open-access academic journal specializing in Qur’anic studies, Islamic studies, and related interdisciplinary fields. The journal publishes original scholarly research and provides immediate, free access to all published content without embargo.
Open-access model:
All articles are available online without subscription or payment.
The journal follows a full open-access publishing model aligned with international best practices.
Licensing and author rights are clearly stated on the journal’s website.
Indexing and discoverability: The journal is indexed, registered, or discoverable through several recognized international and academic platforms, including:
DOAJ (Directory of Open Access Journals)
WorldCat
ROAD
Google Scholar
Crossref (with DOI assignment)
BASE
OpenAIRE
Dimensions
OpenAlex
SUDOC
Select (academic library discovery systems)
In addition, the journal’s content is held or discoverable through catalogs of established academic institutions, including major research libraries such as Sorbonne University, indicating institutional-level visibility rather than self-reported claims.
Publishing infrastructure and preservation:
Registered ISSN
DOI assignment via Crossref
OAI-PMH compliant metadata
Long-term digital preservation through PKP Preservation Network (PKP PN)
Publisher information: The journal is published by Khibrat Taibah for Research and Studies (مكتب خبرات طيبة للبحوث والدراسات), a research and academic publishing office based in Al-Madinah Al-Munawwarah, Saudi Arabia. The publisher is a registered Crossref member, responsible for DOI registration and metadata maintenance for the journal.
Editorial transparency: The journal provides publicly accessible information regarding:
Editorial board and affiliations
Peer-review methodology
Publication ethics and malpractice policies
Author and reviewer guidelines
Based on the above points, Tadabbur Journal appears to satisfy the scope, accessibility, and verifiability requirements relevant to this list. Its inclusion would contribute to broader geographic and disciplinary representation, particularly in Qur’anic and Islamic studies within the open-access publishing landscape.
I welcome comments or requests for additional independent verification sources. Mostafamadani2016 (talk) 17:48, 17 December 2025 (UTC)
- Hi, this list is for notable journals, that is, journals that have an article on WP. Unfortunately, the info given above does not show that this journal meets either WP:NJournals or WP:GNG and it therefore is not eligible for inclusion here. --Randykitty (talk) 18:03, 17 December 2025 (UTC)
- Dear Randykitty,
- Thank you for your review and for pointing out the guidelines (WP:NJournals and WP:GNG).
- I am writing to you in my capacity as an Editor at Tadabbur Journal. I understand that the journal is not yet indexed in Scopus or WoS. However, I would like to kindly request a reconsideration based on Criterion 1 of WP:NJournals regarding inclusion in "major selective databases," considering the following:
- DOAJ Indexing: Tadabbur Journal is indexed in the Directory of Open Access Journals (DOAJ). As you know, DOAJ has significantly tightened its inclusion criteria in recent years, acting as a selective index that validates the journal's peer-review process and editorial quality.
- EZB Inclusion: The journal has recently been accepted into the Electronic Journals Library (EZB) of the University of Regensburg, which demonstrates its recognition within European academic library systems.
- Regional Significance: It is a specialized niche journal (Quranic Studies) operating under the Diamond Open Access model, serving a large academic community in the Middle East, and is published by a recognized research center (Office Khibrat Tibah).
- Could these factors, combined with its specialized scope, be considered sufficient to satisfy the notability requirements for inclusion?
- Best regards,
- [moustafa] Editor, Tadabbur Journal Mostafamadani2016 (talk) 15:24, 18 December 2025 (UTC)
- Hi Mustafa, You have a conflict of interest here, which you need to declare in a more formal manner (see WP:COI). As for the points you raise:
- 1/ DOAJ indexing means that your journal is serious and not a predatory fake. Apart from that, DOAJ is not selective as defined in NJournals.
- 2/ EZB is completely routine. I would not be surprised if there are more libraries that include your journal: most libraries are not very selective with including OA journals (after all, it doesn't cost them a dime).
- 3/ See WP:ITSUSEFUL.
- Hope this explains. --Randykitty (talk) 15:58, 18 December 2025 (UTC)
- Hi Randykitty,
- Thank you for your guidance and for pointing out the WP:COI policy. I sincerely apologize for not declaring my connection to the journal earlier; it was due to my lack of familiarity with the formal procedures here, and I appreciate your patience.
- I would like to formally declare that I have a professional connection to the journal in question. I will refrain from editing the article directly and will follow the WP:COI and WP:EXTRACT guidelines by suggesting any further improvements on the Talk page for independent review.
- Regarding your points on indexing (DOAJ, EZB, and WP:ITSUSEFUL), I understand your perspective on the distinction between 'indexing' and 'selectivity' as per NJournals. I appreciate the clarification on how these databases are viewed within the Wikipedia community.
- Thank you again for helping me navigate the community's standards.
- Best regards,
- Mustafa" Mostafamadani2016 (talk) 17:35, 18 December 2025 (UTC)
- You're welcome and thanks for being open about your COI! --Randykitty (talk) 18:41, 18 December 2025 (UTC)
