If HNA Group owns Ingram Micro, why are both on the list seperately? 2600:6C44:2400:6B8:C83B:4F9E:C519:6C3 (talk) 14:04, 12 May 2021 (UTC)Reply

Missing companies

Heraeus is missing --196.3.50.247 (talk) 08:08, 19 June 2020 (UTC)Reply

Where is Walmart? According its article it has over $500 billion of revenue, more than double than #1 of the list. Sure it is privately owned? 46.132.78.122 (talk) 23:33, 10 January 2021 (UTC)Reply

Walmart is not a private company. It is publicly traded on a New York stock exchange which means it has multiple shareholders (owners) of the company. This list is based on privately owned companies which are owned by one individual or a family and which stocks aren't publicly available for trading. Rankez (talk) 22:32, 7 October 2024 (UTC)Reply

Synthesis of material

edit

Is this table not a classic example of original research and hopelessly complex to maintain or judge accuracy? The list uses different sources, and revenue figures for different years, to then make a hierarchy of companies by those figures. And it leans heavily on Forbes' list of American companies. So could be missing many companies from around the world? I don't see how this article could/should exist based on it's current referencing. Can someone allay my concerns? Yes, I see your concern. I noticed that South Korean Chaboels are private and are not listed. Samsung and SK Group have revenue of over 100 Billion and are not listed. 161.69.54.14 (talk) 21:23, 7 February 2024 (UTC)Reply
Yes quite a number of international companies are missing. From Europe region alone commodity traders Mercuria & Gunvor should be listed as should the world’s largest Shipping firm MSC. TadhgCorc (talk) 08:49, 23 April 2025 (UTC)Reply

Flags as decoration

edit

MOS:FLAG says that we should not unduly emphasize nationality, especially when the list entries are explicitly not representing their countries of origin or headquarters. The list entries are private non-governmental, which is just about as plain as it gets that the flags should not be shown. Binksternet (talk) 03:25, 5 September 2023 (UTC)Reply

Mediterranean Shipping Company is not included

What's up with this article?

So many companies are missing. People above mentioned a few, I can add Russian Lukoil for example with revenue well above $100 bln. It would be interesting to learn the methodology for this list. Gorgedweller (talk) 18:20, 23 February 2024 (UTC)Reply

List of largest companies by revenue has 31 companies with at least $200 billion, 23 of those are marked as not state owned. Yet this list only has two with over $200 billion.
I don't know what that "privately held" on the header actually means. Apart for mentioned Walmart, also Amazon has a revenue over $500 billion. Then there world top 10 companies ExxonMobil, Apple and Shell which are around $400 billion. Those are not privately held? 193.210.196.238 (talk) 02:40, 18 April 2024 (UTC)Reply

All companies you mentioned up there are publicly traded companies which means their stocks are offered for general public to buy. "Privately held" company means that it's owner is either one individual solely or in most cases a family (example: Cargill, Koch Industries) and their stocks are not available for general public to buy. Public companies have more than one owner (shareholder). Rankez (talk) 22:44, 7 October 2024 (UTC)Reply

Incomplete list

ChatGPT o4-mini-high told me that 13 companies are missing from the list: Mediterranean Shipping Company, Lactalis, Gunvor Group Ltd, Mercuria Energy Group Ltd, Boston Consulting Group (BCG), Danfoss A/S, El Corte Inglés S.A., The LEGO Group, Arla Foods amba, Adeo SA, dm-drogerie markt, Shein, and Tetra Laval Group. That “thing” is right.Lepidux (talk) 11:27, 30 May 2025 (UTC)Reply

Speaking of which, shouldn't OpenAI itself be listed? They are a privately held (not listed on a public stock exchange) company, with reportedly $12 billion annualized revenue for this year. I suppose it's possible that they might make zero revenue for the next four months and miss the article's threshold of $10 billion revenue, but I think their progress so far at least warrants a provisional "(2025*)" entry, with an asterisk. 51.7.169.231 (talk) 14:43, 21 August 2025 (UTC)Reply
I came looking for Lego and saw it wasn't listed for some reason. This list truly needs to be properly updated. If anyone wants to tackle the project, I am willing to help work on it. Let me know. NoWikiNoLife (talk) 22:15, 2 July 2026 (UTC)Reply
