  • oppose. The word "glass" is used in three different senses: an object made from fused silicon dioxide minerals such as window glass, a drinking cup often made of plastic, and eye glasses which are a pair of lenses. Historically the three senses were related, because they were all made from the same mineral. But now eye "glasses" are usually made of plastic, drinking "glasses" (tumblers) are often made of plastic or metal, and therefore the objects are quite distinct from glassware made from the mineral. List of glasswareList of drinkware – Since not all items on this list are made of glass, it seems to make sense to change the title of the page to something more general and all-encompassing. • Oppose I was always of the belief that something could be called a "drinking glass" even if it was, say, made of plastic. It's more of an overarching term, and Ngrams says "glassware" is used tremendously more often than "drinkware". I also suspect glassware may be notable, given its high level of usage. ᴢxᴄᴠʙɴᴍ () 15:06, 7 December 2025 (UTC)Reply
