Lesser-known Dice Games
editI'd be interested to know if the Wikipedia community would allow some kind of category for lesser-known games, so that games and variations on games, which may not appear "notable" enough for the Dice game category, can be archived. I'd suggest that they still represent sound encyclopaedic content, as well as refreshing the currently listed games. Jddriessen 19:03, 2 March 2007 (UTC)
- I don't see any reason why a game cannot be placed in Category:Dice games, as long as it can support an encyclopedic article. —ptk✰fgs 20:34, 3 March 2007 (UTC)
There hasn't been much comment on this subject. I'd like to start a page on the dice game "Cameroons" which I learned as a child and have played into adult-hood. As it may take a while to build a proper page, how do I go about bilding the initial page and developing it enough for publication? Bill W (talk) 02:06, 9 July 2008 (UTC)
- As long as you can get some valid references into whatever first attempt you make, it should be accepted as a stub until you can expand it. Jddriessen (talk) 12:14, 10 July 2009 (UTC)
Synch with category:Dice games
editSince all dice games are listed in the dice game category, is there some way to synchronise the category with the limited list of games in dice game? Jddriessen 21:45, 3 March 2007 (UTC)
I added a entry to Gluckshaus, and after someone cleans it up it would be good to link it to this page.
- If the list and the category are meant to be the same, I think the list should be replaced by a link to the category page, like this: List of dice games.--Nø (talk) 19:10, 3 June 2010 (UTC)
Deletion of unsourced redlinks
editIn this edit, the following unsourced redlinks were removed:
- Blates
- Catan Dice Game
- Chicago
- Cinq-O
- Daemon Dice Game
- Phase 10 Dice
- Shibala
- Cookie Fu (Blue Kabuto)
- Demon Dice also known as Chaos Progenitus (Fast Forward Games)
- Dicemaster (Iron Crown Enterprises)
- Harry Potter Dicers (Hasbro)
I agree with this deletion for the time being, but perhaps someone can dig up enough sourced info to write proper articles or at least stubs about some of these games, and then re-add them to this page.--Noe (talk) 14:40, 30 April 2008 (UTC)
Criteria for inclusion
editIs this a list of games whithout much equipment besides the dice - or just games where dice are important?
Is it a list of common games, or are less well known games included too?
Is this list needed at all; aren't the wiki categories good enough?
Why is backgammon included, but parcheesi (or other cross-and-circle games) not?--Nø (talk) 12:00, 29 August 2010 (UTC)
- I feel like this list would be more beneficial if its "by number of dice" similar to List of card games by number of cards. Then there could be subsections for the type of dice and (potential) additional equipment. going through all 73 (as of the time of my comment) pages in Category:Dice games would be a lot of work though 2600:8800:97:E200:1031:EF09:EE66:A6E0 (talk) 19:44, 19 September 2025 (UTC)
- to answer your questions:
- ideally, it should primarily be about dice. but some equipment like paper and pencil or some way to keep score like a table to roll on is generally ok, as most people still consider them "dice games" since dice are the primary driver
- I feel like they should all have an article at least, but the guideline's not specific: WP:NLIST
- lists and categories should be synergistic and are considered WP:NOTDUP
- I have no clue. this is likely just subjectivism.

Settlers of Catan
editCould we include Settlers of Catan in this list? Two D6 dice are used. --kupirijo (talk) 09:13, 7 November 2020 (UTC)
- Catan Dice Game should be enough, IMO. 2600:8800:97:E200:1031:EF09:EE66:A6E0 (talk) 18:05, 28 September 2025 (UTC)
Should Razzle (game) be removed?
editI would argue that dice isn't the "sole or central component," but rather the grid of holes that any object falls into. The article itself primarily talks about using marbles, so likely whatever objects are dropped doesn't really matter. 2600:8800:97:E200:1031:EF09:EE66:A6E0 (talk) 18:13, 28 September 2025 (UTC)
- I would guess the dice version mentioned at Razzle (game) does not use the grid of holes; instead, the player merely throws 8 dice (and they are added up). The game would still have the score table, but if I'm right, the dice are a central component. The article isn't clear about this, but it would not make much sense to use cubes instead of spheres with the grid. Nø (talk) 18:33, 28 September 2025 (UTC)
