this is still considered FGM currently.
editThis article seems to downplay that this is painful for victims. It also may be that it is still considered FGM by the WHO under type 4. Better image should be used
editThe image from Le Valliant was criticized even by his contemporaries. Travel writer John Barrow and Le Valliant's translator Elizabeth Helme consider it "more a product of his imagination that a true image of nature."
