Better late than never! So far as Irish official sources, as well as almost all online sources, it was Maev - and that seems to have been the spelling on the ship itself. - Davidships (talk) 00:36, 24 September 2025 (UTC)Reply

I believe HMS Oxlip should be merged into LÉ Maev. Both pages pertain to the same ship by two different names, while the standard is that a ship should only have one page even if it has gone by multiple names, and neither page is particularly long. Again, a merger seems entirely appropriate for the reasons stated. In this case, based on the content, I would more strongly favour merging LÉ Maev into HMS Oxlip. - Davidships (talk) 00:01, 24 September 2025 (UTC)Reply
I think it makes more sense for HMS Oxlip to be merged into LÉ Maev as it served under the latter name with the Irish navy for 26 years compared to only 5 years with the Royal navy and during it's time in service was a lot more significant to the Irish navy than the Royal navy proportional to each navy's size. Hi, pootisman. Now that the merge has been completed - and I have cleaned up the inadvertant mess left in the process - perhaps you can now add content to reflect your concerns above. - Davidships (talk) 19:14, 6 October 2025 (UTC)Reply
