editFunny, I didn't think anyone would ever add information to what I had written on the kissi language. Who are you? I'm unfortunately not very good in Kissi. I've just grown up in Kissidougou. It's great someone has corrected this article. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Keba saa (talk • contribs) 17:28, 8 January 2007 (UTC)
ƞ or ŋ ?
editSmall item, but maybe not. I don't speak Kissi at all, but know that in various other West African languages, the ŋ is used for "ng as in song," not the ƞ. They look somewhat similar, but have different codepoints and probably represent different sounds in IPA. In fact, the ŋ is quite common in orthographies of languages of the region.--A12n 22:52, 2 April 2007 (UTC)
- Actually you use ƞ in Kissi. See http://www.language-museum.com/k/kissi.php for a sample text... 3 June 2007
- I'm switching it back to ŋ based on the fact that that is what it appears to be on that page you linked, and that that was what this article originally had. Soap Talk/Contributions 12:36, 31 August 2008 (UTC)
locations
editI know some Kisi that live in Kenya; is the locations it is spoken correct, or am I mistaking the Kenyan Kisi with some other group that just sounds similar?Fuzbaby (talk) 05:51, 17 July 2009 (UTC)
- No, the Kisi are an entirely different people (from East Africa). This article is about the Kissi from West Africa (Guinea, Liberia and Sierra Leone). The name is the only similarity.
