I will have a go at reviewing this article over the next few days. It's my first GA review so it may take a little while. —Giantflightlessbirds (talk) 01:00, 4 September 2025 (UTC)Reply

GA review (see here for what the criteria are, and here for what they are not)
  1. It is reasonably well written.
a (prose, spelling, and grammar): b (MoS for lead, layout, word choice, fiction, and lists):
Excellent quality of writing overall, good lede and article structure. I did a quick edit pass to increase the number of links. I also changed the 'Taxa named by him' section to 'See also' since it is more standard - consider adding some links to the See also.
  2. It is factually accurate and verifiable, as shown by a source spot-check.
a (reference section): b (inline citations to reliable sources): c (OR): d (copyvio and plagiarism):
References check out, but it does appear that the article relies very heavily on sources called "Dicionário". Can you confirm these are secondary sources and not teriary encyclopedic sources - the language barrier makes this a little harder to assess on my end, and I don't want to go on a witch hunt over a translation error!
"Dicionário" means "dictionary," so I wouldn’t expect them to be encyclopedias. The first source states that "the biographies are written by specialists" and that "they are reviewed by the editorial commission and external reviewers"; the second source is produced by the Museum Studies Research Group and the Direção-Geral do Património Cultural, both reputable institutions! The editorial board process is good to hear, that confirms it's comparable to a journal for me. Thanks! chickenpox4dinner (talk) 21:11, 4 January 2026 (UTC)Reply
  3. It is broad in its coverage.
    a (major aspects): b (focused):
The article has a very good flow and does not go on tangents, each part of Bocage's life is covered even-handedly. Well done.
  4. It follows the neutral point of view policy.
    Fair representation without bias:
Again, this is a very responsibly written article, the tone remains encyclopedic and unbiased throughout.
  5. It is stable.
    No edit wars, etc.:
  6. It is illustrated by images and other media, where possible and appropriate.
a (images are tagged and non-free content have non-free use rationales): b (appropriate use with suitable captions):
A multiple-image of the animals named after Bocage could be fun, and add some visual variety.
  7. Overall:
    Pass/Fail:
This will be a pass once I get confirmation from you on the sourcing. chickenpox4dinner (talk) 19:15, 4 January 2026 (UTC)Reply
