Article looks solid, I will try to add my comments either tomorrow or the day after, but it may be after the holidays depending on my schedule, apologies for a potential delay. Crystal Drawers (talk) 05:54, 23 December 2025 (UTC)Reply

Please let me know from what category you'd like me to do my GA pledge review. Bgsu98 (Talk) 06:53, 23 December 2025 (UTC)Reply
Oop, sorry, almost forgot. Television is usually looking for more reviewers, so reviewing an article from that category would be appreciated Crystal Drawers (talk) 19:48, 23 December 2025 (UTC)Reply

  • "The John Nicks Pairs Challenge is an annual pairs figure skating competition sanctioned by the International Skating Union (ISU), organized and hosted by the Skating Club of New York and U.S. Figure Skating at the Sky Rink at Chelsea Piers in New York City, New York, in the United States." — I feel everything starting with "organized" could be merged into it’s own sentence. So it should look something like this: "The John Nicks Pairs Challenge is an annual pairs figure skating competition sanctioned by the International Skating Union (ISU). It is organized and hosted by the Skating Club of New York and U.S. Figure Skating at the Sky Rink at Chelsea Piers in New York City, New York, in the United States."
  • Normally I would object as this is the standard layout for similar figure skating competitions, but this particular one has more stuff than usual (two organizers, an extra-long location, etc.), so I went ahead and split it up.
  • "The competition debuted in 2021 and is named" — add a comma after "2021"
  • This one is iffy, but there's nothing wrong with adding a comma, so I added it.
  • "and as part of the Challenger Series, skaters" — more of a personal taste thing than anything, but I’d put a comma between "and" and "as", since that is how I’ve usually seen Wikipedia articles write sentences like that
  • I don't think it's needed, but again, it's iffy.

User:Crystal Drawers: I have addressed your concerns. Thank you for your feedback! Bgsu98 (Talk) 20:14, 23 December 2025 (UTC)Reply

Thank you, the changes look good! I’ll review the History section later tonight and hopefully have the source review done by then, as well. Happy holidays :) Crystal Drawers (talk) 20:30, 23 December 2025 (UTC)Reply
Apologies for the wait, Christmas was busy for me, so I'll give you my thoughts on the History section later today and hopefully have the source review done by then, too Crystal Drawers (talk) 20:12, 26 December 2025 (UTC)Reply

  • "who competed for Great Britain in single skating and later pair skating with his sister Jennifer." — I think the wording of this is throwing me off; he competed with his sister in both single and pair skating, or only pair skating? Maybe changing it to "who competed for Great Britain with his sister Jennifer in single skating and later pair skating." would be better if you mean that Jennifer competed in both
  • No, single skating is by yourself; pair skating is with a partner.
* I don’t know how I made that mistake lol! Apologies
  • "Nicks was inducted into the World Figure Skating Hall of Fame in 2000. He coached an estimated 1,200 skaters during a career than spanned more than four decades" – The first sentence is quite short, suggest merging it into the beginning of the second
  • No, that following sentence is extensive with numerous subordinating clauses.
  • What is a "discipline"? I’m assuming it’s referring to a type of person in regards to the event, could it be linked to a page somewhere or expanded upon in the prose?
  • The disciplines are listed immediately afterward in parentheses (men's singles, women's singles, pair skating, and ice dance).
  • Last sentence is very short, add it to the previous paragraph
  •  Done

I’ve gone through 25% of the sources, and they all seem to match the text. Happy to pass :) Crystal Drawers (talk) 21:50, 26 December 2025 (UTC)Reply
