@Veg Historian I suspect that Robert Bowes Malcolm is John Malcolm's brother based on father's name and where he grow up. I'm struggling to find citations though. Do you know of any that would link them together. Also to Robert Bowes Malcolm's obituary, William Fettes' wife Maria Malcolm was his aunt. I'm also not sure if John Malcolm is a relative, I don't think he was their father though. Throughthemind (talk) 17:09, 1 February 2025 (UTC)Reply

Malcolm's father was Major John Malcolm of Haughton-le-Skerne, he is described as his youngest son . Major John Malcolm was in the East India Company (this does indeed match John Malcolm). There are sources saying that Robert Bowes Malcolm was his eldest son. It is very likely John and Robert were brothers, however, I cannot find any sources connecting them.
