editThough he spent time at CalTech, I don't think it is correct to class John Mankins as an academic. Scientist or government official seems more accurate. Keith Henson (talk) 03:23, 30 November 2018 (UTC)

- --ok, I think I've found and added citations to most of the statements here. I'm a little dubious about the reliability of the citations, since all of the various bios seem to say the exact same things in the exact same words, so I expect that they were all cut-and-pasted from the same original, but they pass the Wikipedia Reliable Source test, so I am referencing them.
