Contested deletion

edit

This article should not be speedily deleted for lack of asserted importance because... (Since when is the winner of one of the most important contestant shows not covered?) --Spectacular01 (talk) 07:16, 19 May 2025 (UTC)Reply

Anyone who attempts to request a speedy deletion of a winner is off their rocker—especially when a 6th placer from the same season has already had an article made about her by some devoted fan, lol. --Cinemaniac86TalkStalk 08:07, 23 May 2025 (UTC)Reply

Issues with the quality of this article

edit

There are several significant issues with the formatting of quotes within this article. I've tried changing them, but one user has reverted all my attempts to edit the quotations to abide by Wikipedia's Manual of Style. To be clear, the repeated usages of parentheses to rephrase Roberts' original quotes not only goes against MOS:QUOTE, but also reads as an attempt to inappropriately interpret his choice of language. The most egregious examples are as follows:

  • "Go with your first mind (meaning to not waffle but stick with what seems to be the first good plan or idea)"
  • "I took the no (looking back on the first two unsuccessful efforts on the show)"
  • "They're (his children) very sensitive, especially with their daddy"

There are many other issues with grammar and punctuation throughout the article. Sunday Best should be italicized; "Just My Imagination (Running Away with Me)" should be linked and within quotation marks. There is also an improperly placed comma in that section of the article. Those are just two examples, but there are many others. (All my attempts to correct those issues were reverted and replaced with the versions that contain improper grammar, punctuation, and formatting.)

There is also an unsourced statement ("Throughout the show, he and runner-up John Foster were never in the bottom 3 of the contestants vote.") To be clear, the season never contained a "bottom 3" for anyone, much less Roberts or Foster, to be in. I deleted that sentence because it is not necessary to add context, and neither of the sources at the end of the paragraph support that statement – yet it was reverted and reinstated.

To be clear, I've attempted to address all the above issues, but they've been reverted every time.

If any other users want to try editing those quotes and other issues, I invite you to make an attempt; if you wish to copy+paste, you can access my previous edits through the "View History" function. Afddiary (talk) 23:51, 22 May 2025 (UTC)Reply

Without altering much in terms of prose (I'm a bit achey currently, and the chart was all I had in me before haha), I tidied up various grammatical errors. Proofread it and let me know if that has improved it in any way thus far. --Cinemaniac86TalkStalk 08:06, 23 May 2025 (UTC)Reply
