After I converted this redirect I created into a stub article, it was turned back into a redirect with the reasoning that the "topic does not add any information not already found in the redirect, and there's currently no need to split it out". Although some of the information present in this article had already been present at its target at the time, not all of the information was there until I made this edit so that Wasianpower's edit summary would be factually correct. However, my problem with this compromise is that, although Samayā includes information about the word's use in the context of Jainism, a list of other Jain units of time besides a samaya seems somewhat beyond the scope of that article, which is why I turned this redirect into an article. The current situation may be roughly equivalent to including a list of modern units of time in Planck units § Planck time and redirecting Unit of time to that section because the information already exists there. – MrPersonHumanGuy (talk) 13:54, 5 September 2025 (UTC)Reply
- IMO, it seems like a reasonable redirect target since each of the units of interest are derived from the Samaya. If you think it's better as a standalone, I think it needs more content than just a list of the units, it doesn't make sense to have 2 stub articles each covering the same topic for the majority of their length. Maybe it would be better to have an article for Jain units of time, and Samayā can be a disambiguation which points to the Jain and Hindu units of time? Also, my apologies — I should've looked closer, for some reason I thought the list and table had the same info, I should have moved that over when I redirected. 🌸wasianpower🌸 (talk • contribs) 23:09, 5 September 2025 (UTC)Reply
- The thing is that the Samayā article also covers the word's other meaning; the right moment in time, equivalent to Greek kairos. – MrPersonHumanGuy (talk) 16:39, 13 September 2025 (UTC)Reply
