The article currently states that “He was raised as an Orthodox Jew but became an atheist as a teenager.” This claim is attributed to reference [6] Green, William (2008), “Big Game Hunter,” The Times. I have reviewed that source, and it does not make any statement about Irving Finkel’s religious beliefs, past or present. It contains no discussion of atheism, a change in religious identity, or his relationship to Judaism.
Because this is a sensitive biographical detail about a living person, it falls under WP:BLP, which requires high-quality, directly supportive sourcing. Since the cited reference does not verify the claim, it appears to be unsourced and should be removed or tagged for citation until a reliable source can be provided. ~2025-37217-00 (talk) 23:34, 29 November 2025 (UTC)Reply
- Thanks for raising this. I have added a source for that sentence. Whilst I'm commenting, the Catholic Herald article cited elsewhere in the article is no longer online, and there is no archive at the Wayback Machine, but it looks as if the article's author has put the text online at Will Gore: Journalism and other witterings.
