Hi OrionNimrod, and thank you. That clarifies things. Irene/Piroska is of interest for many, being a historical figure, unlike Saint Irene (Great Martyr)/of Lecce, and by being born Catholic to a Hungarian father and German mother, but married Orthodox and canonised as a Byzantine empress.
Would you be so kind and add in the appropriate place the reason for her canonisation ("was canonized in the eastern church because of her extraordinary acts of charity for the poor")? Also, her canonisation apparently hasn't beed considered by Rome, which is also worth a mention, but I see that in some Catholic liturgical calendars she is listed as a saint or "Blessed" (cf.
