IPad (A16) → iPad (11th generation) – This article was originally titled iPad (11th generation) but was moved without discussion in September with the justification being 'In line with other iPad article moves'. But this actually creates an exception rather than being in line. the iPad (3rd generation) was marketed as "The new iPad", the 4th generation the "iPad with Retina display", and both the 5th and 6th generation as the "iPad 9.7-inch". - CHAMPION (talk) (contributions) (logs) 12:36, 4 February 2026 (UTC) — Relisting. - I agree.
- I must note that some of the titles for the articles for other models of iPad outside the main lineage are referred to by their names from Apple’s own advertising for them rather than their generation numbers from their respective lineages; however, I nevertheless agree with this move regardless of any similar decisions to the contrary made in other areas, as I personally feel that consistency is very much key here, especially considering that not all models of iPads even have a unique marketing name from Apple to call them in an article title, whereas all models will logically have a generation number, and if they ever don’t then that will be another problem entirely: a bridge that we will cross when we get to it — if we ever do get to it — you could say.

- Support per nom. Many websites still refer it as the iPad 11th generation (or iPad 11), and is easily recognizable as the xth generation of iPad. Another advantage is consistency with the other iPad articles. Keep it consistent. EvanTech10 (talk) 04:23, 13 February 2026 (UTC)
About the move
Sorry about the move; I thought that, if other articles about iPads were being moved, then I thought that, inevitably, this page had to be moved as well. But if this move was inconsistent, that's fine.

- Maybe there should be a discussion about the titles of the other iPad articles, assuming they were moved without discussion. - CHAMPION (talk) (contributions) (logs) 23:20, 25 February 2026 (UTC)
- Yeah, good point. TwoGamer1000 (Edits) 07:15, 26 February 2026 (UTC)
- I may be too late, but even if the new title "iPad (11th generation)" brings consistency with previous models, it does not follow the rules of WP:COMMONNAME.
- Since 2024, Apple officially started to distinguish iPad models by their chips (e.g. iPad Pro (M5), not iPad Pro (8th generation)). On a lot of sources - even on Apple's website - the name "iPad (A16)", which should've been the name of the article, is more common than "iPad (11th generation)". Because of that, I tried to move the page back to "iPad (A16)", but couldn't.
- Any other ideas of moving back? Slackintosh (talk) 00:44, 2 June 2026 (UTC)
- Whether Apple uses whatever name on its website is not a reason to title an article on Wikipedia with that name, per longstanding consensus, unless it can be proven this is the common name used by reliable sources. - CHAMPION (talk) (contributions) (logs) 04:01, 2 June 2026 (UTC)
- Got it. Just for this article, it will not matter what its title will be. Slackintosh (talk) 04:18, 2 June 2026 (UTC)
