Not the true myth
editI think that the account that this article gives of Hippolystus' death is not the true myth, but is taken for Euripides' play. I am quite sure that the nurse, the go between of Hippolytus and Phaedra, was an Euripidean invention.

Restrictions in Discussions
editI think it is restricting how Hippolytus page is structuring from discussing further portrayals of him beyond Euripides play.
Hippolytus history is brought up in Plutarch, Pausanias, Pseudo Appolodorus all agreeing how it was Phaedra one way or another that lead to his death but there is some dispute over who his mother was. Pausanias also brings up his grandfather Pittheus raised him and how he had a significant presence around Trozeon. There is also a small line I saw in Pseudo Oppian The Cynegetica Book 2 of the which brings up a contribution in hunting history that along with figures like Perseus, Atalanta and Orion how "Nets again and nooses and curving hayes did Hippolytus first reveal to hunting men." - Hi MightyDragoon453. If your point is that the page should cover portrayals of Hippolytus produced after Euripides' play in greater detail, then I agree. If you like, you can add such information yourself, as long as it's supported by reliable sources. If you do so, feel free to alter the section headings as you see fit. If your concern was that the "Hippolytus in Euripides" section included information from sources later than Euripides, I've addressed this by splitting the "In Italy as Virbius" subsection out into a separate section. – Michael Aurel (talk) 02:16, 19 January 2026 (UTC)
Frazer Attribution
editThe summary of Hippolytus' transgression is cited as coming from Frazer. Though it is mentioned in passing, this summary comes from the play itself. Also "disgust" is a strong word there. He simply models himself after Artemis. SsbmBLOOM (talk) 13:41, 31 March 2026 (UTC)
