Add Sharmila Tagore 's name in the golden era actresses from 1940s to 1960s. Her performance oriented films included Anupama, Devar, An Evening in Paris, Aradhana and Satyakam. 2607:FEA8:FCC0:8068:C922:8C37:2358:B6C (talk) 15:17, 13 June 2025 (UTC)

Merge proposal
editI propose merging Hindutva boycott of Hindi cinema into Hindi cinema. I think the content in Hindutva boycott of Hindi cinema can easily be explained in the context of this article, and merging them would not cause any article-size or weighting problems. Dagoofybloke (talk?) 19:15, 17 December 2025 (UTC)
- Further comment: this main article currently lacks any criticism topics and povs (except plagiarism, which i think can be covered under a general criticism subtopic too). So merging Hindutva boycott of Hindi cinema into this should be a good start point. Dagoofybloke (talk?) 19:34, 17 December 2025 (UTC)
- I'm not opposed to mentioning the boycotts in the main article, but it's a pretty small aspect of Hindi cinema and I don't know how much actually needs to be included. We definitely should not be treating negative content as a goal and need to be careful not to add any more than what's prominent in sources about Hindi cinema. Orphaned references in Hindi cinema
editI check pages listed in Category:Pages with incorrect ref formatting to try to fix reference errors. One of the things I do is look for content for orphaned references in wikilinked articles. I have found content for some of Hindi cinema's orphans, the problem is that I found more than one version. I can't determine which (if any) is correct for this article, so I am asking for a sentient editor to look it over and copy the correct ref content into this article.

Hindi cinema → Bollywood – Most WP:COMMONNAME. Looking at the sources, the term “Bollywood” is used 103 times while the term “Hindi cinema” is used six. Nutella lover • [ chat│supervise ] 12:43, 15 March 2026 (UTC) — Relisting. Jeffrey34555 (talk) 15:57, 22 March 2026 (UTC)
- @Lekritz: are you going to propose the name changes of these other topics aswell?

- Yes, I am. Thank you for bringing this to my attention. If this R.M. ends positively, I will later argue for a move of those articles. Nutella lover • [ chat│supervise ] 16:28, 15 March 2026 (UTC)
- Comment Previously discussed in 2022, which resulted in the current article title. 162 etc. (talk) 16:54, 15 March 2026 (UTC)
- Oppose Breaks WP:CONSISTENT; see Tamil cinema, Telugu cinema, Marathi cinema, Gujarati cinema, etc. Even the cinema of the United States is not at Hollywood. Terms like Bollywood or Hollywood are usually used to cover specific segments of a cinema industry, mainly the popular faction; they are not usually all encompassing names. Keivan.fTalk 07:32, 21 March 2026 (UTC)
- Oppose for reasons already stated above and supported well by strong sources in the previous move. This article is about Hindi cinema, the Hindi-language film industry - Bollywood is not a "common name", it is a journalistic, colloquial term which doesn't even represent the whole of the Hindi film industry which this article is about, but a very specific part of popular Hindi cinema which is associated with a particular style of films. Today, it is used less and less, while many professionals of the industry find it demeaning. Still, the term Bollywood is properly discussed in a section of the article as it should. No need for more, IMO. Shahid • Talk2me 16:55, 23 March 2026 (UTC)
