Victims of the recapture 1809
editI have found a burial record of the three Norwegian sailors and the one English sailor who were killed in the recapture in 1809. The record is here and this is my own transcript:
"12 August 1809 bleve de ved Briggen Alarts Erobring faldne Matrosers Liig Lars Christopherssen (Mand 37 aar), Torger Rasmussen (Mand 38 aar), Søren Claussen (Mand 32 aar) samt en Engelsk Matroses Liig hvilkens Navn ei viides begravne i fri Jord. Ved Liigbegjengelsen blev der ringet i 1 Time med alle 3 Klokker samt ¼ Time forud med den største."
(12 August 1809 were the bodies of the fallen sailors from the capture of the brig Alart Lars Christopherssen (male 37 years), Torger Rasmussen (male 38 years), Søren Claussen (male 32 years) and an English sailor whose name is unknown buried in free ground. At the funeral were rung with all three bells for an hour plus one quarter before with the largest.)
