Date of Birth & Death?
editThe article lists Grimaldo's birth @ c 1070 and his death as before 1143, however, he is listed as being Consul of Genoa in 1162, 1170, & 1184, putting him at about 114 at his last Consulship. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Blkgardner (talk • contribs) 23:18, 22 June 2008 (UTC)
- And even the first one would have been 19 years after his death... --Anshelm '77 (talk) 12:43, 4 April 2013 (UTC)
- > Fixed: His father Otto Canella lived from 1070 to 1143, and Grimaldo Canella from c. 1110 to c. 1184.
Link to Grimaldi, Calabria?
editWell, I learned that Grimaldo Canella, as his father Otto, "is placed between the dark history and the beginning of the fame of the family. In fact, historians and heraldists have fabled about him ancestries and mythical origins. [...] Serious studies [have begun] only in the modern age even if the unknown on the real origin of the Canella still remains". Still, I would appreciate any hint about any relationship between the family and the place of Grimaldi, Calabria (if there is any), probably linked to Grimoald I of Benevento (c. 610-671).
