reasons for great migration

From the article: "The primary factors for migration among southern African Americans were ..... indentured servitude, convict leasing."

These two factors are noted early in the sentence but I thought indentured servitude was illegal and was 'convict leasing' a major cause of movement Northward? ~2026-51637-1 (talk) 05:14, 24 January 2026 (UTC)Reply
