editi'd like to make a correction here, but as far as i can tell, it's an "original research" dilemma.
"Broad Peak was thought to miss out on a K-number as it was hidden from Montgomerie's view by the Gasherbrum group."
this statement is uncited, which is just as well, because it can't be true ;) according to multiple other articles on wiki, Montgomerie identified these peaks from https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Harmukh. if this is indeed the case, then broad peak was NOT obscured from his vision by the gasherbrum group, but rather it was hidden behind Masherbrum. do i simply replace one uncited assertion with another? how do i fix this? Dubious tag
edit"Gasherbrum (Urdu: گاشر برم) is a remote group of peaks situated at the northeastern end of the Baltoro Glacier in the Karakoram mountain range.[dubious – discuss]"
There is nothing dubious about this, it's a factual description of the group's location. Would a citation from William Martin Conway's 1894 book "Climbing and Exploration in the Karakoram-Himalayas" be sufficient to replace the dubious tag? And, if necessary, an additional citation from Filippo De Filippi's book "Karakoram and Western Himalaya 1909, An Account of the Expedition of H. R. H. Prince Luigi Amadeo of Savoy, Duke of the Abruzzi" ? In lieu of guidance to the contrary, it is my intent to do that. Ed WoodWiki (talk) 00:07, 26 March 2026 (UTC)
