Tabloid

edit

The wikipedia link to wp:TABLOID does not necessarily prohibit tabloids. Even so, it has a registered editorial board under Hussein Fiin according to a link on the site. Heesxiisolehh (talk) 22:33, 3 December 2021 (UTC)Reply

Hello @Heesxiisolehh:,

You cannot cite tabloids as they are not reliable sources. You need to cite a reliable source that backs this up, otherwise it is original research. I searched around and apart from a few Youtube videos and Facebook posts (which are not reliable sources) nothing else came up.

I'm just gonna remove this part if this is fine by you. You are free to readd it if you find a reliable source that backs it up.

Many thanks, Dabaqabad (talk) 22:47, 3 December 2021 (UTC)Reply

Page name

edit

@Vanderwaalforces: For Somalis, Garad is almost part of the name. If we write this person's name without the title, it would be Jama Ali Jama, but no one would be able to imagine that this is the person's name. Freetrashbox (talk) 10:18, 17 February 2025 (UTC)Reply

It very much isn't only Somalis, it is common with African royalties, although it is not limited to us. But, based on WP:NCROY, we do not need to title them based on that for consistency's sake. Vanderwaalforces (talk) 11:04, 17 February 2025 (UTC)Reply
Does that mean you're moving the name of this article to Jama Ali Jama? Freetrashbox (talk) 11:10, 17 February 2025 (UTC)Reply
Yep! Do you agree with that? Vanderwaalforces (talk) 11:15, 17 February 2025 (UTC)Reply
This news page is a scathing criticism of this person, but even so, the name by which he is referred to is Garad Jama Garad Ali. This is because there is no other way to refer to him. Freetrashbox (talk) 11:35, 17 February 2025 (UTC)Reply
It is no doubt, true. But then, saying someone is Garad Jama Garad Ali and is the 21st Garad of the Dhulbahante just doesn't work per WP:NCROY. Vanderwaalforces (talk) 11:57, 17 February 2025 (UTC)Reply
Are you also arguing that Hassan Sheikh Mohamud and Sharif Sheikh Ahmed should be moved too? What kind of page title? Freetrashbox (talk) 12:28, 17 February 2025 (UTC)Reply
Now, this is a perfect example of what I am saying. See Sharif Sheikh Ahmed has a "Sheikh" that precedes his name making it "Sheikh Sharif Sheikh Ahmed", but then, the page is not located at "Sheikh Sharif Sheikh Ahmed" but "Sharif Sheikh Ahmed". This is because the first "Sheikh" is a title and not part of his name, although, the second "Sheikh" may be considered to be part of his name. This is where WP:NCROY applies. So, No; neither of these two are going to be moved. Vanderwaalforces (talk) 12:44, 17 February 2025 (UTC)Reply
Do you really know about Somali naming conventions? Freetrashbox (talk) 12:56, 17 February 2025 (UTC)Reply
