Not a British citizen?
editI appreciate the fix, Mattythewhite, concerning the Daily Express. I did some looking, and apparently more reliable outlets have picked up the story (links at the bottom of this comment). I wanted to get other people's opinions about what to do with this, though. Given that he does not appear to be a British citizen at all—that he has yet to complete the citizenship process, not just that he does not have a passport—it would follow that he is only a Portuguese footballer, as that is the only nation for which he is eligible to play internationally. I don't want to change the lede, though, as this story is new and the original source is/was questionable. Links: 1) Daily Mail—https://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/football/article-10628225/England-call-Fulham-star-Carvalho-passport-issues-lose-Palaces-Olise.html 2) Mirror—https://www.mirror.co.uk/sport/football/news/liverpool-fulham-carvalho-portugal-england-26492304 Anwegmann (talk) 21:56, 18 March 2022 (UTC)
- @Anwegmann: Considering he has played internationally for a country other than that of his birth, and that has citizenship status hasn't been ascertained, I would say that nationality should be omitted from the opening sentence of the lead, as is standard practice in cases like this in football biographies.
- Regarding the links you've cited, the Daily Mail has been depreceated and "its use as a reference is generally prohibited", per WP:DAILYMAIL, and there is no consensus as to the reliability of the Daily Mirror, per WP:DAILYMIRROR. As it is a tabloid publication, we should seek a better quality source, especially when we're talking about content on a WP:BLP. Mattythewhite (talk) 22:34, 18 March 2022 (UTC)

- Fábio Carvalho (footballer, born 2002) → Fábio Carvalho
- Fabio Carvalho (footballer, born 1993) → Fabio Carvalho (Swiss footballer)
- Fábio Carvalho (footballer, born 1978) → Fábio Carvalho (goalkeeper)
- Fabio Carvalho → Fábio Carvalho (disambiguation)
– Clear primary topic with 96% of pageviews. Additionally, proposing alternative disambiguators to year of birth. Hameltion (talk | contribs) 21:38, 27 October 2023 (UTC)
- Weak oppose I'm not really convinced he's done anything to be PRIMARY by long-term significance. Also, not a fan of the mixed disambiguators.--Ortizesp (talk) 05:32, 28 October 2023 (UTC)

- Oppose - no PRIMARYTOPIC, and anyway the proposed alternative moves show deep ignorance, positions and nationalities are fluid, YOBs are not and that is why they are always preferred. GiantSnowman 15:18, 28 October 2023 (UTC)
- Oppose the second and third points per GiantSnowman, depending on how popular the Liverpool footballer is in the future, the first point may be supported either now or at a future date. Iggy (Swan) (Contribs) 16:32, 28 October 2023 (UTC)
- Oppose per GiantSnowman. KingSkyLord (talk | contribs) 13:30, 30 October 2023 (UTC)
- Oppose. No primary topic and YOB is standard disambiguation for footballers. -- Necrothesp (talk) 14:27, 31 October 2023 (UTC)

The result of the move request was: not moved. Consensus is against the proposed move. While the 2002-born footballer is currently the only extant article of this name, editors did not agree that he has demonstrated long-term significance sufficient for PRIMARYTOPIC under WP:PRIMARYTOPIC or WP:ONEOTHER. The disambiguation page at Fábio Carvalho should remain for now. (closed by non-admin page mover) --Warm Regards, Abhiimanyu7 talk 12:30, 11 November 2025 (UTC)
Fábio Carvalho (footballer, born 2002) → Fábio Carvalho – Now that one of the articles has been deleted, this Fabio Carvalho is clearly PRIMARYTOPIC by page views and long-term significance, so should be moved to base name and DAB deleted per ONEOTHER. - Comment: I assume you want to change the title to "Fábio Carvalho", but you made an error in the nomination and are now asking to name it "new name." TheSilksongPikmin (talk) 18:19, 28 October 2025 (UTC)
- Yes, correct. Error on my part, thanks for catching it.@TheSilksongPikmin:--Ortizesp (talk) 18:25, 28 October 2025 (UTC)

- Oppose - page views do not indicate PRIMARYTOPIC, just being in the news (i.e. active player). GiantSnowman 20:55, 29 October 2025 (UTC)
- Relisting comment: Would like more participation Z E T A3 17:52, 4 November 2025 (UTC)
- Oppose - the older Fabio Carvalho appears to be of marginal importance, but the younger one is not a senior international (despite playing youth for two countries) and has just over 100 career appearances so far. Neither has established long term significance, the disambig can remain for now. Unknown Temptation (talk) 21:52, 5 November 2025 (UTC)
