Additions
editThe plan is to add information about school gardens to the 'youth education' and 'urban agriculture' sections of the article. The information will be about the sector debates surrounding the integration of youth education.
Youth education
editThe "Youth Education" section speaks of choices and behaviors being important in reversing food deserts. This is in seeming disagreement with earlier text that explained the causes of food deserts only in terms of external factors. I believe that causes include choices. But the article in its current form contains this tension. I think we will have to wrestle with the question of contributing causes. Pete unseth (talk) 02:11, 11 November 2023 (UTC)
Food trucks
editThe article speaks of food trucks. Is this intended to refer to fast food servers or to trucks delivering groceries? 23:17, 2 March 2024 (UTC) Pete unseth (talk) 23:17, 2 March 2024 (UTC)
- I believe it's referring to the latter! I'll make edits to reflect this definition. Cd631874 (talk) 18:32, 23 March 2024 (UTC)

Updates to history, new sections for related terms and climate change
editMajor edit suggestions that I plan to add. Much of these are related to how the issue of food deserts disproportionately affect black people which is mentioned in the article once but not further expanded upon.
As the history section needs expansion, history over how US food deserts are understood as a problem is warranted.
Moreover, related terms for food deserts, specifically in how they pertain to the US, exist in academia and ought to be listed. Food apartheid and supermarket redlining are the main concern in this regard with the only the former having its own Wikipedia page. They have their own formal definitions by academics which can be listed.
A section for climate change with how it pertains to US food deserts is warranted as well as there is research done on the matter. Loo ninja (talk) 05:31, 9 May 2025 (UTC)
