An excellent summary of this amendment and other related ones is

Other sources include these:

In 1969 there was a ban on cyclamate because of a study which found it toxic to rats. This 1970 report might be related to that - I did not find the original study.

  • Price, J. M.; Biava, C. G.; Oser, B. L.; Vogin, E. E.; Steinfeld, J.; Ley, H. L. (1970). "Bladder Tumors in Rats Fed Cyclohexylamine or High Doses of a Mixture of Cyclamate and Saccharin". Science. 167 (3921): 1131–1132. doi:10.1126/science.167.3921.1131. ISSN 0036-8075.

Anyway, the story is that because of the banning of this chemical, President Nixon ordered a review at that time of all chemicals designated as GRAS.

I don't care enough to fix it. It's written in a strange manner with weird phrases that don't sound human. Padlocks (talk) 05:18, 24 April 2023 (UTC)Reply
