From memory, Krutwig meant "Land of colour", "Land of the painted ones" or "Highland".
Actually I think the meant all at the same time.

- That was when talking about Caledonians/Picts as Karadunak. Kara=color, laughter (archaic), also *khar is accepted as a pre-IE root for stone (like in Basque harri or German?karst).
