Using the search function in the respective book page in http://www.historica.ca, I looked in Howay & Scholefield's "British Columbia From the Earliest Times to the Present" (a common title, also used by Alexander Begg for his magnum opus) and found a passage about the Enterprise being the vessel by which Governor Douglas took leave of the Island Colony at his retirement from that position - see this link - although the grand send-off on the Enterprise was only for his move to New Westminster (where he also relinquished governance, but to a different incoming governor). I was surprised not to see more mention of the Enterprise in this volume, but I haven't fully looked at the section on the Fraser River steamers yet, though there is some detail on the earliest stemaers here.Skookum1 (talk) 06:02, 13 November 2008 (UTC)Reply
