This is malware, electricsheep.scr has been stealth installed on my system. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 77.86.101.25 (talk) 08:32, 24 November 2008 (UTC)
No it isn't... perhaps the malware you have is imitating this project? 81.151.208.237 (talk) 14:48, 29 December 2008 (UTC)
I think the reason you think it is malware is because your firewall asked you if you want to let it connet to the internet. -- ms.henrick 15:50, 23 february 2009 (GMT)
Name Origin
editThe name for this program is obviously an allusion to "Do Androids Dream of Electric Sheep?" a science fiction novel by American writer Philip K. Dick first published in 1968. The book's plot served as the primary basis for the 1982 film Blade Runner. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Budperry (talk • contribs) 15:25, 2 January 2011 (UTC)
Differential uses
editElectric Sheep also refers to an AI for good educational initiative: www.electricsheep.is 101.108.116.245 (talk) 07:17, 29 July 2025 (UTC)
Major Expansion Incoming!
editHello everyone! I am going to be doing a major expansion on this article today to address the "Needs Citations" and "Notability" warning tags. I'll be adding properly sourced sections on the history of the software, the technology behind the genetic algorithm, and its artistic impact (including its exhibitions at major museums). I will update the lead section as well. Feedback is welcome once the edits are live. Chetan Lohia (talk) 21:48, 12 April 2026 (UTC)
